Everton’s solo career took shape in 2020 during the global Covid-19 pandemic, following six impactful years with The Vine. Alongside his manager, Gamu, he launched Virtual Hymns, a project that saw over 100 episodes recorded to encourage and uplift audiences during challenging times. His solo career quickly gained momentum with the release of his debut album, “In The Presence,” in November 2020. The album featured standout singles such as “Uyingcwele,” which achieved a remarkable five-week run at number one on Zimbabwe’s leading urban radio station. Other notable tracks included “Bambelela,” “My Father’s House,” “Pfugama Unamate,” “No Night There,” and “Mwari Hamushanduki,” featuring the legendary gospel artist Bishop Benjamin Dube.

Mlalazi’s success continued with his subsequent releases, including “In the Presence Vol. 2” and a forthcoming hymns album. His second album demonstrated his ability to collaborate with iconic musicians, such as the five-time Grammy Award-winning group Ladysmith Black Mambazo on the track “Nomakunje,” and featured popular songs like “Nyashadzashe,” “Ndokutewera Mponesi,” and “Yibo Laba.” His latest single, “Fill Our Hearts,” featuring Janet Manyowa, showcases his growth and evolution as an artist.
