The Adriatic to the east, the Ionian to the south and the Tyrrhenian to the west, but also smaller ones such as the Ligurian Sea or the Sardinian Sea bathe its coasts. There are many islands, more than 800 , with beaches, landscapes and surprising nature. Today we are going in search of some of the lesser-known ones, small paradises to disconnect and enjoy the good life.
The island of the beautiful pastel-coloured houses , hanging from the cliff and facing the sea, is the great treasure of the Bay of Naples . A little-known place, at least in Spain, despite the fact that two years ago it was the Capital of Italian Culture. A good refuge to escape the hustle and bustle of Naples (just over half an hour by ferry) and seek out a leisurely Mediterranean-flavoured tourism, where you can stop to contemplate the beauty and authenticity of every corner and every step. There are small hotels, restaurants with traditional cuisine and fishing boats that go out to fish every day. At the top of the island, Terra Murata , a fortress from where you will have the best panoramic view.
TORCELLO
There is a Venice beyond the crowded Venice , the one made up of its numerous islands scattered around its lagoon, many of them far from the crowds and easily reached by vaporetto . A little further beyond Burano is the island of Torcello, which was once one of the most inhabited islands until malaria caused the population to abandon it and today it is inhabited by only a handful of Venetians. Its basilica, Santa Maria Assunta, was once a cathedral and is one of the most visited buildings.
