Frómista and the triple award for the best sustainable project

July 22, 2024

When we think of summer we think of the beach , but the truth is that it is not a bad idea to reserve a few days for inland tourism. Because in many of our towns we find charming corners, unique natural spaces, good temperatures during the day and nights to sleep in the cool . That is what happens in the Palencia town of Frómista, a jewel in the middle of the Camino de Santiago that offers a lot of different plans (and without crowds!).

The first thing that will convince you is that its average maximum temperature during the summer is 26 degrees and that at night it ranges between 10 and 12 degrees. It is, therefore, an ideal time to come and discover Frómista and all its charms. Did you know that Palencia is the province with the highest concentration of Romanesque monuments in all of Europe? Here you have to start with the church of San Martín de Tours , the most emblematic monument of European Romanesque and a resting place for pilgrims who make the journey. You can also visit the church of San Pedro , which houses the Museum of Sacred Art, or the church of Santa María del Castillo . Beyond the Romanesque, if you fancy plans in nature, you can choose:

CANOEING THE CARRION RIVER
Summer is the time to plan water activities. The Canal de Castilla or the Carrión River and its calm waters are ideal for practicing sports such as canoeing or kayaking without any difficulty. You can do it in the area of Herrera de Pisuerga (half an hour from Frómista) along the canal, or along the river as it passes through the town of Husillos (twenty minutes from Frómista) with companies such as: husillosnavega.es.
