Princess Leonor is taking centre stage during the month of July in a year that is already very special for her. Her coming of age and the swearing-in of the Constitution, the anniversary of the proclamation of King Felipe VI… and now, this month, the visit to Zaragoza to finish her military training, the presentation of the Princess of Girona Awards and what will be her first official trip to a foreign country complete her busy schedule.
The Portuguese capital will be the one to receive Princess Leonor on an official visit today, Friday, and she will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares. The invitation comes from the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa , who will receive the heiress to the throne. The choice of Portugal was not a coincidence, a country linked to Spain by important ties, and it should also be remembered that the relationship of the Spanish monarchy with the neighbouring country also has a family tradition, because it was Don Juan de Borbón , grandfather of the King, who lived in Estoril since 1946 with his family, his wife María de las Mercedes, and his children Pilar, Juan Carlos, Margarita and Alfonso.
Princess Leonor’s visit will only last one day, and will be limited to the city of Lisbon, where she will visit some of its most outstanding corners. We will tell you where she will stop and the beautiful places she will see during her visit, so that you can then get inspired to go on a getaway to Lisbon, which is always a good plan.
